A spacious house with practice rooms on Molenstraat in Fijnaart is for sale for 470,000 euros. According to saleswoman Silvia, it is the atmosphere and versatility that make the property special: “Here you can live, work and enjoy in one place. The house feels warm and you notice that it is alive.”
A few years ago, Silvia and her partner consciously looked for a home in West Brabant, outside the city. They wanted to establish a home business there. When they discovered this building, they were immediately enthusiastic. “We didn’t want an average house. This has character and lots of possibilities.”
The detached house, originally built in 1901, has a living area of 245 square meters and has eight rooms, including three bedrooms. Thanks to several practice rooms and separate entrances, the building is suitable for combining living and working. Double occupancy or a division into two homes is also possible.

Special mix
What particularly attracted Silvia is the appearance of the house and the freedom in design. “You can furnish it in a modern way, but you can also combine it with… vintage or classical elements. That mix makes it special. It’s not tight and straight forward. It has character.”
The house has several floors, a basement and various rooms, each with its own function. The family made intensive use of the house. “We celebrated birthdays downstairs and each room had its own purpose. There is just a lot of space.”
Many original details have been retained, such as visible beams and characteristic shapes. According to Silvia, the house is well maintained and has been renovated in various respects.

Band with Frans Bauer
The layout of the house makes it suitable for different residents. This allows entrepreneurs to start a practice at home. But families or people who want to live with family also have plenty of options. “You can customize it entirely to your own wishes. A roof terrace can also be created on the flat roof. There you have a beautiful view and you can really feel the space.”

What makes the house extra special is its history. The building once housed a pet shop, among other things. “Behind the house there used to be a trailer park where singer Frans Bauer grew up. He came here regularly as a child and was allowed to pet the bunnies and watch the fish downstairs.”
Company growth
Still, Silvia decided to move. The family’s business grew and moved to external premises. There are also plans to live and work abroad: “That is why we decided to sell the house.”
Saying goodbye is not easy for her. “I will especially miss the space and the atmosphere. It is a house with character, something you feel and experience.”
