The bullet is in the church: RTL confirms the end of the failed talk show RTL Tonight. The last episode is on June 12, and in the autumn we can start watching Renze Klamer again.
It has been coming for a while, but it is now finally official: RTL boss Peter van der Vorst backs down and confirms the end of his prestige project RTL Tonight. The last broadcast of the program is on June 12, 2026 and in the autumn Renze Klamer will return to the air with his own talk show. Beau, Humberto and Leonie? They are out.
Not affected
Peter’s decision comes very late. Why did he continue to flog a dead horse for so long? “In a media landscape that is changing rapidly due to the arrival of streamers and new platforms, our ambition is to continue to renew and innovate with our programming with RTL 4.”
He continues: “RTL Tonight was a conscious step in that direction, but we must honestly conclude that this specific form has not caught on sufficiently with the viewer.”
‘Very proud’
Peter says he is proud of the team behind RTL Tonight. “We are proud of the editorial team that works every day to create the best possible show. This also applies to all the enthusiastic interpreters at the desk.”
“A special word of thanks goes to Beau, Leonie and Humberto, who continued to work on the program with great enthusiasm despite the enormous pressure. Their tireless efforts will not be forgotten. We will be making plans for the future together with them in the coming period.”
Run back
What will Renze’s new talk show look like? “He will work with the team of producer EndemolShine Nederland in the coming months on the development of the new talk show. The start date has not yet been announced,” said a spokesperson for RTL.
Discussions are being held with Humberto, Leonie and Beau about what the programming will look like from that moment on, RTL said.
