After a violent crash, Haas driver Oliver Bearman limped significantly when leaving his car. The team provides information about his health.
Shocking moment for Oliver Bearman: The Formula 1 driver apparently survived a violent accident during the race in Japan without any serious injuries. Bearman suddenly had to take evasive action on the approach to Turn 13 in Suzuka after Franco Colapinto (Alpine) was driving surprisingly slowly in front of him, his Haas hit the grass on the track and then crashed into the barrier.
Bearman was able to get out of the car, but was limping badly afterwards. Shortly afterwards, his team announced that the 20-year-old was doing well under the circumstances and that he had “no broken bones” in the crash. At the same time, the team spoke of a bruised knee. Forces of 50G probably acted on Bearman when he hit the tire wall.
Because the next two races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were canceled, Bearman has over a month to get back to full fitness. The next Grand Prix is planned for May 3rd in Miami/USA.
