Shortly before the ski jumping season comes to an end, Stephan Embacher falls and briefly shocks the sports world.
Stephan Embacher had a moment of shock while ski flying in Planica. The Austrian flew to 240 meters, lost control after landing and fell.
The 20-year-old hit his face and head on the ground and slipped over the slope. Rescue workers were quickly on site, although it was initially unclear how serious the consequences were. However, Embacher was able to get up again and leave the landing area. According to an initial medical examination, he remained uninjured, as the Austrian Ski Association announced.
On ORF, Embacher described the incident as follows: “It looked wilder than it was. My left ski went away a little bit, and then I landed crooked and fell. Luckily, I watch so much MotoGP, so I consciously put my hands to my head.”
The Tyrolean wants to compete again in the team competition on Saturday. “I won’t let that be taken away from me,” said Embacher.
