Museum Valse Kunst in Vledder reopens its doors today. After a thorough renovation, the board wants to make a name for itself and is aiming for official status.
Then you might think: isn’t it already officially a museum? That’s right, but one without a real quality mark. And once you have that, you can enjoy many benefits.
“Then you should think about government subsidies. You can join the museum pass, so that you can possibly attract more visitors and it is easier to exchange pieces between museums,” says museum manager Eva Willems.
To qualify for such a status, you must complete a process with the Museum Register Netherlands. They look at your accounting, how you interact with staff and volunteers and much more.
“And we are now busy working on going through that process,” Willems explains. She has been hired as a paid employee at the museum for six months to work towards that status.
