Jannik and Jasmine will play the final of the singles and doubles respectively tomorrow and have decided to prepare them by training together at lunchtime, without skimping on their shots.
Finals time at the Masters 1000 in Miami. Three of the last four acts scheduled have Italian players as protagonists. Bolelli and Vavassori in the men’s doubles, Errani and Paolini in the women’s doubles, and obviously the most awaited: Jannik Sinner, who will play tomorrow against Jiri Lehecka to complete the Sunshine Double. A feat that has been missing since 2017, when Roger Federer achieved it. However, the blue player could become the first ever to win both Indian Wells and Miami without losing a single set. And, to best prepare for the final, on a hot and humid day in Florida, Sinner chose an exceptional training partner.

Tomorrow, at 6.30pm (approximate time but with situation to be evaluated given that the weather forecasts rain), Paolini and Errani will play the final of the women’s 1000m against the expert pair Siniakova/Townsend. And Sinner, who would take to the field after the girls, chose to train today together with Jasmine, Italy’s n.1. The two have an excellent relationship, with Paolini having publicly thanked the world no.2 several times in the past for the advice he received and for the inspiration he gives, even in small things. The Italian has often declared how Sinner’s help contributed to her improvement, as well as providing nice little moments together with the South Tyrolean.

At 5.30pm Italian time, therefore around lunchtime in Miami, Sinner and Paolini took to the pitch in front of a good number of fans for a high-intensity training session. Both for the climatic conditions and for the pace imposed on the exchange. Jasmine, a luxury partner for a warm-up towards the final, did not skimp on her punches, giving rise to sustained exchanges. Important for Jannik given that Lehecka, opponent in tomorrow’s final beaten three times out of three without losing sets, bases much of his game on a high pace from the baseline. A joint preparation, towards the goal that everyone has in common: another strong Sunday, perhaps with two 1000 titles, for Italian tennis.
