Germany’s group opponents Ivory Coast gained self-confidence for the World Cup with a convincing victory in the first friendly match. Coach Emerse Faé’s team won clearly against South Korea 4-0 (2-0) in Milton Keynes, England. The goals for the superior Ivorians were scored by Evann Guessand (35th minute), Simon Adingra (45th+1), Martial Godo (62nd) and Wilfried Singo (90th+3).

It was the first game for the Ivory Coast since their quarter-final exit at the Africa Cup against Egypt (2:3). At the World Cup, the Africans will meet the German team of national coach Julian Nagelsmann in the second preliminary round game in Toronto on June 20, 2026. Other teams in Group E are Ecuador and World Cup debutants Curaçao.
