A lot of work is being done in the new building of the Northwest Hospital in Alkmaar. No fewer than 23 departments, including the emergency department, operating rooms and intensive care, will be moved to the new building from this weekend. And that is a huge logistical job.
Patient by patient away
Today is all about moving the patients. This means that about 140 people will be transported from the old hospital to the new hospital, beds and all. That is going well so far. “The move is going well and according to plan,” said spokesperson Sietske Purmer-Oud, who indicates that the reactions to the move have been positive. The moving operation started on Friday and should be completed on Monday.
“There is a good atmosphere. Employees say goodbye to their ‘old’ department, the new departments are enthusiastically put into use and there is great cooperation between all teams to ensure the move runs smoothly. We are quite proud of that,” says Purmer-Oud.
The outpatient clinics will remain in their usual location in the existing hospital. A lot of medical equipment has already been moved in recent days.
