Will Manuel Neuer end his career or will he stick around for another season at FC Bayern? Fans are waiting for the answer to this question, but they will have to be patient for a few more weeks. According to a report, the Munich team’s planned future talks with the world-class goalkeeper have been postponed for the time being.
Neuer asked Bayern’s sporting leadership to postpone the talks that had been scheduled for the international break, reports the “Bild” newspaper, citing its own information. Neuer doesn’t want to decide what will happen next until mid-April at the earliest. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and sports director Max Eberl have therefore agreed.
Neuer wants to use the time until then to recover from the torn muscle fiber he suffered in mid-March, return to the pitch and then listen to himself again. To do this, he is initially targeting the game on April 4th in Freiburg (3:30 p.m.) and then the quarter-final games in the Champions League against Real Madrid (April 7th/15th). “Many components come into play. It’s a question of health, fitness and motivation. But also: what will happen to the club next season. I can’t answer that myself because it’s still far too early,” Neuer explained in November last year. The 2014 world champion and twelve-time German champion only wants to continue his career if he can maintain his world-class level.

The direction Neuer’s decision will take still seems completely unclear at the moment. However, according to a recent “Kicker” report, it is certain that there will be no more club changes. Neuer wants to end his career safely in Munich, where he moved from training club Schalke 04 in 2011. In the ranking of the most used Bayern professionals, the Gelsenkirchen native has overtaken club legend Franz Beckenbauer this season. Neuer will no longer be able to reach the top position of Thomas Müller, who moved to Vancouver to the Whitecaps last year, even with an extension. Neuer has 166 Bayern games fewer than his ex-colleague; However, 590 games so far mean that a jump past Gerd Müller and Oliver Kahn into third place still seems possible (to the ranking).
