50-year-old Woods, who rolled over after crashing into a truck in Jupiter Island, Florida, was arrested on charges of “driving under the influence” (DUI).
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said the 15-time major tournament champion was also charged with criminal damage to property and refusal to submit to legal testing.
Sheriff John Budensiek said officers did not suspect Woods of alcohol use but thought he may have been under the influence of an unknown substance.
Woods, who had to crawl out the passenger door and pass a breathalyzer test, refused a urine test.
Woods, who was detained in Martin County Jail for 8 hours, was later released on bail.
Woods had a car accident in 2021 in which he was injured. The vehicle under Woods’ control rolled over and left the road after hitting the median in Los Angeles, California, on February 23. In the accident, Woods suffered fractures to his right tibia and calf, as well as to his ankle and foot.
