In 2018, the man, then 24 years old, committed the murder. He could not stomach the fact that his girlfriend started a relationship with a young butcher’s son Bjorn D. (28) from Schuiferskapelle (Tielt) and killed him with a crossbow.
The court of assizes gave him 18 years in prison. Last year he was allowed to go to prison with a anklet left after serving a third of his sentence. He was also given conditions. Perhaps he feared that he had violated it and would have to go back to jail.
