After a total of five years, Mirco Romanin will resign from his position as coach of the Italian women’s biathlon team. This means that in addition to the position of shooting coach, the position of fitness coach will also need to be filled for the coming season.
Romanin justified his voluntary resignation to “Fondo Italia” with private obligations. “I decided to prioritize my family,” explained the coach, who became a father for the first time last year.
Biathlon trainer leaves the future open
The fitness expert left it open whether he would return to the Biathlon World Cup at a later date. “You never know what the future holds,” he said of a possible return. What his immediate professional future looks like is also not yet clear.
“I have communicated my intention to continue working for the association. In the coming months we will see whether I get a new role and what it might look like,” said Romanin, hinting at staying at FISI.
Numerous biathlon teams without shooting coaches
Even before Romanin, Jonne Kähkönen had also announced his departure from Italy’s biathlon women. According to reports, the Finn will remain active in the first league. According to rumors, the Swedish association is trying to secure his commitment. In Sweden, Jean-Marc Chabloz resigned from his post.
