In the Champions League, Jule Brand meets her former club with Lyon. But it’s not just the national player who is dedicated to football in her family.

On Tuesday evening, VfL Wolfsburg will face top club Olympique Lyon in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Champions League (from 6:45 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online) – with Jule Brand there. The 23-year-old has been under contract with the French team since last summer. The German international previously played for VfL Wolfsburg for three years.

Now it’s time for Brand to reunite with her old employer and some DFB colleagues. Certainly a special moment for the German offensive player, who has so far scored three goals for Lyon in the French league and has already been successful in the premier class. More goals should follow soon and lead to titles at the end of the season.

However, it’s not just Jule in the Brand family who has a heart for football. Her brother Felix Brand is also committed to sport – albeit on a different path.

The 25-year-old played for FSV Zwickau in the 3rd league from 2021 to 2023. He then moved to TuS Mechtersheim in the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar. Over time, however, Felix Brand sustained several injuries, which is why he changed his career direction. Leaving his active career as a professional football player behind, he pursued a coaching career.

In April 2025, VFC Plauen hired Felix Brand as an assistant coach. A club that fought for survival last season. On Brand’s debut in the Regionalliga Nordost, the bottom team at the time, Plauen, managed a 0-0 draw against Babelsberg. But in the end it wasn’t enough to stay in the league. Plauen was relegated. Felix Brand stayed until the end of August before the club and assistant coach agreed to immediately end their collaboration.

“The decision wasn’t easy for me,” Brand explained on Instagram at the time. He was able to “work in a very professional environment,” but “now the time has come to return to my homeland and take on new tasks there,” said Brand.

He now works as an individual and performance coach. On his own website, Brand writes: “I support footballers and ambitious athletes holistically – technically, athletically, mentally and in everyday life. From the perspective of a former player who knows competitive football from the inside – and knows how much details, attitude and environment make a difference.”
