Giresunspor, which has not been able to say “stop” to its decline since the 2022-2023 season, when it last competed in the Super League, will compete in the Regional Amateur League for the first time in its history.
The Black Sea representative, which was founded in 1967 and competed for 6 consecutive seasons by rising to the top level league in Türkiye in the 1970-1971 season, gained the right to take part in the Super League again in 2021 after 1977.
Giresunspor started to compete in the Super League again after 44 years, and completed the 2021-2022 season above the relegation line. The green-white team, who could not hold on to the league in the 2022-2023 season, said goodbye to the Super League.
Giresunspor, which had staff problems due to the transfer ban and players leaving the team, finished last in the TFF 1st League in the 2023-2024 season and was relegated to a lower league.
While the Black Sea representative was competing in the TFF 2nd League Red Group in the 2024-2025 season, he received point deletion penalties due to his files containing football player receivables in FIFA. Giresunspor finished the season in last place and bid farewell to the TFF 2nd League.
The Black Sea representative, who collected 17 points in 26 matches in the TFF 3rd League 3rd Group this season and was at the bottom of the league, could not get out of the bad situation it was in.
Giresunspor, whose relegation was confirmed four weeks before the end of the league according to the results of its opponents, will take part in the Regional Amateur League for the first time in its history.
The green-whites, who have disappointed their fans for the last 4 seasons, will fight to take part in the professional leagues again next year.
