It would have been noticed that the occupants were not wearing seat belts. Ultimately, it turned out that B. may have deliberately driven into the lighting pole. In those circumstances, she was arrested by the Bruges investigating judge on suspicion of a double murder attempt.
Mental disorder
A court psychiatrist came to the conclusion that the suspect suffers from a mental disorder. Due to a distorted sense of reality, the family became isolated and the Dutch woman was said to have seen no way out. The risk could be limited by taking medication. In those circumstances, B. was released conditionally on March 11, 2025. Due to a problem with her mandatory guidance, she spent another week in prison in the summer.
“No more danger”
Based on the court psychiatrist’s report, the public prosecutor’s office will ask the council chamber to intern the suspect. According to her lawyer Lawrence Taillaert, B. no longer poses a danger to society thanks to her treatment. In addition, she would also have more and more contact with her daughters. The defense successfully asked on Wednesday afternoon to postpone the case in view of a report from her treating psychiatrist. The council chamber will consider the matter on April 22.
