Savannah Guthrie begged someone to “do the right thing” in a preview clip of a new interview on “Today” It’s her first interview since her 84-year-old mother Nancy was kidnapped from her home.

Nancy was reported missing on February 1st, but extensive searches and investigations have so far not yielded any concrete leads. Guthrie said she and her family were still “in agony” and called the situation “unbearable.” Of her mother, she said she wakes up “every night in the middle of the night” and “imagines her terrors in the darkness.”

She continued: “It’s unimaginable – but these thoughts can’t be pushed aside. I won’t hide my face. She has to come home now.”

Interview in two parts

Guthrie’s full interview on “Today” will air in two parts: starting tomorrow, March 26, and continuing on Friday, March 27. Guthrie was last seen on the show on January 30, two days before Nancy was reported missing. She briefly returned to New York earlier this month to attend the show and thank her colleagues for their support. It is still unclear when Guthrie will officially return to the presenting table. (Kotb, who was on “Today” for nearly 20 years and was Guthrie’s co-anchor from 2017 to 2025, fills in for her former colleague.)

Since Nancy’s disappearance eight weeks ago, Guthrie has been mostly in Arizona with her family. The family is offering a $1 million reward for Nancy’s return, while the FBI is offering an additional $100,000.

The investigation revolves primarily around video footage from a doorbell camera that appears to show an armed and masked man at Nancy’s door on the night of the disappearance. Although the footage was released last month, authorities have not yet identified the person in the video. Several suspects were temporarily detained, but all were released without charge. Investigators have also received numerous ransom demands, but the Guthrie family said they have not received any signs of life from Nancy.
