Polish rink speed skater Kamila Sellier25, was horrifically injured at the Milan-Cortina Olympics when a competitor’s skate cut his face above the left eye.
After a very unfortunate mass fall, the sight was dramatic, when the skater, who was bleeding profusely, was taken off the ice rink on a stretcher without any information about his health condition. Sellier spent the next three days in a hospital in Milan, where he was operated on several times.
Now, a month later, Sellier has told a Polish TV show about his health.
– I have had a printed titanium mesh placed in the eye socket under the eye and on the side. The bone above my eye is still broken, but nothing has been put there, the woman explained in the program.
The accident is visible as a scratch on Sellier’s face.
In addition to the aesthetic problem, he has bone fractures in his face and occasional problems with his eyesight.
– When I look up and sometimes down, I see two. It varies a bit.
Sellier was accompanied in the interview by her husband, who competes in the same sport Diane Sellierwho was obviously shocked by what had just happened.
– As soon as I got off the ice, I called him. I wanted to tell him that I’m fine, but he must have had some kind of panic attack because he didn’t say anything, Kamila Sellier said of her husband’s reaction.
