Since last week, Michael Olise has been the sole most valuable player in the Bundesliga. “He is an FC Bayern player and has all the opportunities that top players want here. We want to shape the future with him,” emphasized the 52-year-old, who brought Olise from Crystal Palace to the Isar in the summer of 2024 for a fee of around 53 million euros. This sum is expected to increase to 59 million due to bonus payments. Crystal Palace are said to have a sell-on clause. However, there is no exit clause in Olises’ Bayern contract – which allows Eberl and Co. to sleep peacefully in terms of personnel.
“Michael has a contract with us until 2029, without an exit clause – we are relaxed. He knows what he has in us, and it’s the same the other way around. That’s fine,” said Eberl. It is an open secret that the record champions are already trying to extend Olise’s working paper. However, given the secure situation, there is no rush, and when asked about the possible status of the negotiations, Eberl remained tight-lipped: “In general, you are always in communication with your players. But what we talk about remains internal.”
Karl on Olise: Can shape an era at FC Bayern
What speaks for Bayern: According to reports, Olise also feels very comfortable in Munich off the pitch. Olise can prove in the upcoming Champions League duels with Real Madrid that he is becoming a key player at FC Bayern not only in the Bundesliga but also at the highest international level. “We need players like that at FC Bayern. His development shows once again what you can achieve at FC Bayern. There is no limit for a player like him – we trust him to do anything,” said Eberl.
