Preußen Münster wants to stay in the 2nd Bundesliga with Alois Schwartz. The 58-year-old succeeds Alexander Ende, who had to leave a week ago after a 6-0 defeat against newly promoted team Dynamo Dresden. Schwartz, who initially received a contract until the end of the season, was most recently head coach of 1. FC Saarbrücken until November 2025. After the 27th matchday, the Münster team is in last place in the table, two points behind 15th place.
“Alois Schwartz is a very experienced coach who, with clear leadership and structure, has already shown that he can give teams valuable impetus in relegation battles. He knows what it takes to maximize the chances of a successful end to the season in this situation,” said Ole Kittner, Managing Director of Sports, Strategy and Communications. U23 coach Kieran Schulze-Marmeling and youth leader Janis Hohenhövel, who stepped in on an interim basis, will continue to support Schwartz as assistants.
The new head coach explained: “I’m really looking forward to this task and have accepted it because I’m convinced that together we can achieve the turnaround. The team has already shown that it has the mentality and quality to survive in this league.”
