Brazilian Ronan Nunes Cordeiro will be disqualified from the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris after a positive doping test. Triathlete Martin Schulz benefits from this.

The German triathlete Martin Schulz subsequently won the silver medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. The original runner-up, Ronan Nunes Cordeiro from Brazil, was disqualified due to a positive doping test and his result was therefore annulled.

As the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced, Cordeiro tested positive for the anabolic androgenic steroid 19-norandrosterone while competing in the PTS5 starting class on September 2, 2024.

The active ingredient is prohibited at any time. The 29-year-old appealed – but the IPC’s independent anti-doping tribunal confirmed the decision at a hearing on January 28, 2026. The World Triathlon Association will decide on a possible ban for Cordeiro.
