The Japanese Grand Prix is a very special Formula 1 race for many reasons: the atmosphere is sensational, the track is spectacular and the fans are crazy in a positive sense. This year, Team Haas is adding extra spice to the weekend with an unusual yet iconic livery.
The Haas Formula 1 racing team came up with something very special for the Japanese Grand Prix and created a real eye-catcher even before the first training session in Suzuka. On Tuesday, the US team presented a special livery that will adorn the VF-26 on the race weekend.
Biggest difference from the normal look: There are several Godzilla motifs incorporated into the paintwork. The film monster, which has been known worldwide for decades, enjoys cult status not only, but especially in Japan, its “country of birth”. Haas should score some brownie points with the enthusiastic home audience.
The special paintwork was presented on Tuesday in Tokyo on a stage in front of numerous spectators.
Haas as a big surprise of the Formula 1 season
On the race weekend itself, a lot can be expected from Haas, not only visually but also in terms of sport. The team has collected 17 points in the first two races of the season, making it currently the fourth strongest force in the constructors’ championship.
Haas has Oliver Bearman to thank for its sporting status quo, who is doing a great job in his second year in Formula 1. At the season opener in Melbourne, the 20-year-old Brit finished seventh, and in Shanghai he even finished fifth.
If teammate Esteban Ocon hadn’t weakened and ended up outside the points in both races (P11 and P14), Haas would currently be ahead of the reigning world champions McLaren in the constructors’ championship. You just have one more meter on your account.
