Italy’s top tennis player Matteo Berrettini will miss at least most of the clay court season after a hand operation.
As last year’s Wimbledon finalist announced on Instagram, he had to rest his right hand for the time being because of the minor intervention. The 25-year-old is missing from the Masters tournaments in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome.
“Following the advice of my doctors, my team and I have determined that I do not necessarily need to time myself in my recovery,” Berrettini wrote. He has not yet ticked off the start at the clay court highlight of the French Open (May 22nd to June 5th).
