World champion Marc Márquez obviously has to expect significantly more resistance in MotoGP this season than in his confident title year in 2025.
As in the opener in Thailand, the Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) won the second main race in Goiania/Brazil. Ducati star Márquez took fourth place in the hot race, which was shortened from 31 to 23 laps due to the external conditions.
The Spaniard Jorge Martín (Aprilia) and the Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati) were sandwiched between Bezzecchi, who celebrated his fourth consecutive Grand Prix victory across all seasons, and Márquez. Bezzecchi leads the championship with 56 points, seven-time MotoGP champion Márquez (33) is fifth, 22 points behind.
Márquez had at least won the sprint on Saturday, before which a sinkhole in the asphalt had to be repaired as a result of the recent heavy rain. Apart from that, the asphalt at the Autódromo Ayrton Senna was also an issue due to tire wear.
On Tuesday, the Autodromo was flooded after heavy rain and the track was partially covered in mud. The Motorcycle World Championship was back in Brazil for the first time since 2004 – the last time it took place in Goiania was in 1989.
