TOWilliam was only two years old when they took his photo with Lady Diana chosen by him to pay homage to his mother yesterday, on the occasion of Mother’s Day – Mother’s Day which in Great Britain is celebrated in March, rather than here in May. The eldest prince of the princess and King Charles III posted an unpublished image, accompanied by a special message.

The tribute to Lady Diana on the day dedicated to English mothers

“Remembering my mother, today and every day”, we read in the message posted next to the image, taken in 1984 in a garden full of wildflowers in Highgrove, the country residence of the then Princes of Wales, little loved by Diana. AND Prince William he added: «A thought goes to all those who remember a loved one today. Happy Mother’s Day. W».

Lady Diana remembered in the words (and initiatives) of the prince

William rarely speaks in public about his mother Diana, who died in 1997 following a tragic car accident in Paris. But he remembers it punctually in his projects, as in the case of Homewardsthe plan he himself devised for the construction of homes for the homeless. A cause very dear to the princess, who would have turned 65 next July.

A tribute also to Elizabeth II

The photo was chosen from the very private archives of the Windsors, who took the opportunity to post various tributes to other Royal mothers on their social networks. Carlo and his sister Anna opted for a black and white image dating back to 1953, the year of the Coronation, which sees them sitting on a bench with their mother Elizabeth II in Balmoral Gardens, Scotland. With them is the corgi Sue, one of Elisabetta’s favourites.

The memory of the Queen Mother and Camilla’s mother

The post featuring British Royal mothers also includes a historic photo of Elizabeth with the Queen Mother upon arriving at an official event in Westminster; and an image of the current queen Camilla with her mother Rosalind Shand. All accompanied by the message: «We wish a peaceful Mother’s Sunday to all mothers, and to anyone who misses their mother today».
