There are many reasons to reorient yourself in your job. Everyone has to recognize for themselves when it is time for this and then act, because constant stress can also have an impact on their health.

Work remains work. And this can be tiring or stressful. This is normal and most people can come to terms with it. But there are signs and reasons that it’s time for a change – even if a job change and the unknowns it brings may seem scary.

1. Not wanting to get up in the morning

If you have to drag yourself out of bed in the morning and can’t find motivation, you should think about why it’s so difficult for you and what you’d like to get up for in the morning. Anyone who initially consciously got up early, took their time, perhaps prepared for work and thought about the day ahead could now be ready for a change.

2. Standstill

If you know your field very well, have years of experience and can do your tasks in your sleep, then it might be time to develop yourself further and learn new things.

3. Count days

Six more weeks until the next vacation. Two more days and then it’s finally the weekend. If you only look from one life raft to the next in the stormy everyday working life, something is probably wrong. If work is only seen as a means to an end to maintain a standard of living or to finance the next vacation, the meaning of it is missing.

4. No opportunities for advancement

If you want to get ahead in life and still have a lot planned, but your employer doesn’t give you any opportunities to train and get a better position, you should think about whether your current job is enough for you in the long term.

5. Nightmares and restless sleep

If you can’t switch off properly at night, dream crazy things and keep waking up, you may still be haunted by issues from the day. Of course, this doesn’t necessarily have to be due to work, but sometimes your thoughts actually continue to revolve around the job and the problems from the previous or upcoming working day. So if the subconscious constantly speaks up, it might be better to consciously think about your own worries and fears.

6. Lack of appreciation

If you put all your effort into your work but no one notices your effort, let alone appreciates it, it’s frustrating in the long run.

7. Not interested in colleagues

Of course, you can’t choose your colleagues and you have to get along with one or the other at work. However, if at some point you have the feeling that you no longer want to see all the faces, then that affects your everyday working life. A new environment at work can change a lot.

8. Making you sick

When work is not only no longer fun, but you try to avoid it and think about staying home one day or another, then the job seems to be really stressful. Maybe it’s time for something new to get excited about.

9. Low income

If you find that you are earning below average in your job, a change often works wonders. Even those who return to their employer at some point usually start in a different salary bracket after gaining more experience elsewhere.

10. Lack of meaning

For some people it is important to create added value with their work, for others less so. Anyone who belongs to the former and does not feel like they are doing anything meaningful in their current job will probably not be happy with it in the long term.

It’s difficult to make a major decision like changing jobs. Your own satisfaction comes first. If the negative in your job predominates, it’s time to look for new challenges.
