The cause of death of Tina Turner’s son Ronnie Turner has been determined. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office said the primary cause of death was complications of metastatic colon cancer following an autopsy conducted Tuesday (Dec. 13). Specifically, this means that the cancer has spread to other organs.

His natural death was ultimately caused by atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, in which deposits of fats and cholesterol impede blood flow.

After Turner was found gasping for breath on the sidewalk outside his Encino home last Thursday at the age of 62, paramedics were unable to save him. Turner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ike and Tina Turner’s son reportedly had health problems long before, but didn’t make any of them public before his death.

Tina Turner mourns with her eyes closed

Tina Turner sadly posted a picture of herself with her eyes closed on Instagram last week and wrote: “Ronnie, you left the world far too soon. In my grief I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son.”

Turner’s wife Afida also appeared on Instagram with her eyes closed and called her husband a “true angel” with a “great soul.” Both got married in 2007.

The death of Ronnie Turner joins a series of tragic blows of fate for Tina Turner: Ronnie’s brother Craig, the eldest son of Tina Turner and the saxophonist Raymond Hill, took his own life in 2018. Her ex-husband Ike Turner died of a cocaine overdose in 2007. Alline Bullock, Tina Turner’s older sister, died in 2010.

“What’s Love Got To Do With It?”

Tina Turner’s death shocked the world in May of this year. The icon left behind a life’s work that few other artists can match. To celebrate the singer’s career, the single collection “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll” will be released on November 24th. The compilation’s 55 tracks include songs from her entire solo career. The set is released not only as a stream/download, but also as a 3-CD and 5LP set and as a reduced vinyl version with 12 tracks.

In addition to Tina Turner’s most successful singles – including “What’s Love Got To Do With It”, “We Don’t Need Another Hero”, “The Best” and “I Don’t Wanna Lose You” – the collection also includes duets with other artists such as David Bowie, Bryan Adams, Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart. In addition, the musician’s 1996 track “Something Beautiful Remains” was reworked by producer Terry Britten. A new version of the song, now titled “Something Beautiful,” will also be included in the set.

A foreword by Bryan Adams is included on all physical variants. “Tina changed the course of my life, as I credit her with taking me from obscurity to the stages of the UK and Europe. I am so grateful that she shared some of her precious time with me. She was a force of nature, no one had her energy or her voice,” writes Turner’s long-time friend and creative partner. Finally, he alludes to his 1985 song with the singer: “It’s only love, and that’s all.”
