Michael Jackson thanked Eminem for diss
This is an article from 2020.
Michael Jackson was a megastar and as successful as hardly any other musician before or after him, but criticism hurt him like everyone else. Hip-hop mogul Benzino has now confirmed this.
In a podcast conversation on The Gauds Show, he said that Michael Jackson once thanked him for messing with Eminem.
Benzino: “I knew Michael. I got him through Teddy [Riley] met. He called me and thanked me.”
About the reason for the call, he revealed: “When Eminem confronted him with the fire situation in the [‚Just Lose It‘]video insulted, called Michael (…) and I sat there and listened to him. And he actually thanked me.”
The video for “Just Lose It” was released in 2004. In it, Eminem mocked his great colleague Michael Jackson, addressed rumors about plastic surgery and recreated the scene when the musician’s hair caught fire on the set of the 1984 Pepsi commercial (which changed Jackson’s life afterward).
Eminem vs. Benzino
The dispute between Eminem and Benzino began in the early 2000s, when Benzino was still editor-in-chief of the hip-hop magazine The Source. The musicians came into conflict when The Source lambasted Eminem’s album “The Eminem Show” and accused him of being a racist and trampling on hip-hop culture.
Eminem responded to these allegations in several songs, including “Nail in the Coffin” and “The Sauce,” in which he harshly criticized Benzino and “The Source.” Benzino then also released several diss tracks against Eminem.
