Shia LaBeouf was arrested after a bar fight. Now a court is forcing the actor to undergo addiction treatment – while insiders fear a tragic end.
Shia LaBeouf has recently attracted attention less through film roles than through negative behavior in public. The actor most recently started a fight in a bar during Mardi Gras in New Orleans on February 17, 2026. This didn’t end well for him – he was arrested.
His behavior during the celebrations has now resulted in consequences.
Court orders addiction treatment
The actor was now on trial for his recent riots. However, he was lucky here and was not sentenced to prison. Nevertheless, various conditions were imposed on him. He must undergo addiction therapy for alcohol and substance abuse, submit to regular drug tests and pay a deposit of around 85,000 euros. Insiders described the punishment to the news portal “Page Six” as mild and dismissed it as a “celebrity punishment,” which could simply consist of registering with an online service.
He is taken care of
The comparatively mild sentence for the “Transformers” actor is said to have caused great concern in his private environment. An insider who knows the mime warned Page Six: “This guy has to find a way to get sober or he’ll die. This all leads to a tragic end.”
However, Shia LaBeouf himself could see it differently: Shortly before his arrest in New Orleans, he gave an interview to YouTuber Andrew Callaghan in which he emphasized that he did not have an alcohol or drug problem. See here:
His entourage also reported this to “Page Six”: The 39-year-old is a “master manipulator” who is “very skilled at playing the role of a good guy who is in recovery and trying to become a better self.”
Withdrawals and marriage breakup
Shia LaBeouf has been to rehab in the past. In 2022, he reported being sober for 600 days.
His marriage to actress Mia Goth recently became known – but the separation is said to have happened a year ago. According to insider speculation, the end of the relationship is also related to his excessive alcohol consumption. After the split, the actor reportedly moved to New Orleans to be closer to his father.
