Numerous Bayern stars are in top form before the Champions League round of 16. One in particular stands out, but can take it easy early on.
Julian Buhl reports from Munich
“We have a lot of games in which we can rotate and everyone has to be fully present on the pitch,” said Jamal Musiala on the Sky microphone after FC Bayern’s confident 4-1 home win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. Musiala not only shone as a goalscorer, but was even captain of the Bayern team after Joshua Kimmich was substituted in the final phase.
“Today we did it very confidently. Of course, the last goal annoyed us, so we switched off for a moment. That shouldn’t happen to us. Otherwise it was very confidently,” said Leon Goretzka on Sky. Coach Vincent Kompany even went one step further and praised his team’s performance as perfect.
With the start of the most important phase of the season, the Munich team is showing impressive form. Goretzka in particular played a strong game after receiving praise from national coach Julian Nagelsmann at the start of the week and prepared a fantastic goal.
But another Bayern star even towered over the German international. You can read who that is in the photo show above or here.
Not only was star striker Harry injured against Gladbach, but coach Vincent Kompany was able to rest other regular players with Michael Olise, Jonathan Tah, Aleksandar Pavlović, Serge Gnabry and Josip Stanisic with a view to the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Atalanta Bergamo on Tuesday (from 9 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online).
