KIZ, Paula Hartmann, AK Out of Control – the charity concert “Berlin for Rojava” wants to collect 100,000 euros for emergency aid. On June 1st in the Columbia Hall.

On Wednesday, March 4th, some German artists such as KIZ, Paula Hartmann and Pashanim posted that they will be playing a benefit concert at the Columbiahalle in Berlin at the beginning of June. The event was announced in mid-February. Now the live acts have been confirmed.

The concert’s motto is “Berlin for Rojava,” and all proceeds will be donated to partner organizations in Rojava.

The situation in Rojava

The situation in Rojava and north/east Syria has become much more serious. Although a ceasefire has recently been in place, the situation is currently still critical. The formerly autonomous Kurdish region in Syria was disempowered and the local civilian infrastructure was attacked. In some places there is neither water nor electricity. Kurds, women and religious minorities are particularly affected by the circumstances.

Donation target and participating organizations

The aim of the concert is to raise at least 100,000 euros in donations, which will be passed on to organizations such as the Kurdish Red Crescent through Medico International, a human rights organization. These provide emergency medical care for displaced people, equip emergency shelters and document human rights crimes. The civil society initiative “Berlin for Rojava” and the concert organizers LOFT are behind the benefit concert.

Music as a sign of solidarity

The concert is intended to draw attention to the situation in Rojava and send a clear message: “Culture as a voice. Music as responsibility. Solidarity as a concrete action,” says the event’s website. The concert stands for cohesion and humanity and aims to create a space for compassion and commitment.

Not the first benefit concert

The event is not the first in the series of benefit concerts hosted at the Columbia Hall. A concert entitled “Berlin for Gaza” took place in December to collect donations for humanitarian care for the civilian population in Gaza. Apsilon, Levin Liam, Filow, Wa22ermann, Nura, RapK and other German artists performed there.

The line-up

This time too, a line-up was announced straight away. Included are AK Ausserkontrolle, Ceren, Hakim Lokman, Hoti, KIZ, Koma Berxwedan, Kurdo, Lune, OG LU, Pashanim and Paula Hartmann.

Paula Hartmann has often been involved in charity work in the past. In August 2024, she organized a free concert with rapper Apsilon that called for donations to be raised for the aid organization “Cadus eV,” which provides emergency humanitarian aid in war and crisis areas.

AK Ausserkontrolle performed at a benefit concert for earthquake victims in Turkey, Syria and surrounding areas in 2023. The other artists have also been part of events for a good cause several times.

Tickets and event details

The event will take place on Monday, June 1st at the Columbiahalle in Berlin. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 8:00 p.m.

Regular tickets cost 49.99 euros. For those who cannot be there, there is also an online donation pool.
