On Instagram the ILT writes that the driver had ‘a very remarkable record’. “He has been working 7 days a week for weeks. Weekly rest is mandatory and important to prevent fatigue behind the wheel and to ensure road safety.”
The driver, as can be seen in the attached photo, drove for the taxi service Uber. He earned between 1000 and 2800 euros per week.
The ILT can fine drivers who have not taken enough rest and order them to stop working. Most likely that also happened in this case.
