The German ski jumpers won a silver medal at the 2026 Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Lillehammer, Norway. In a points thriller, the DSV quartet shared second place with the Austrians.
The young German ski jumpers Anna-Fay Scharfenberg, Emiliy Teubner, Megi Lou Schmidt and Julina Kreibich can look forward to winning silver in the team jumping on the normal hill at the World Championships. On Friday evening, the juniors only had to admit defeat to the victorious Slovenians, who ended up with 35.7 points more.
The fight for the medals was extremely exciting, as the quartet from Austria also had stakes in the game. With 919.5 points, the ÖSV team also ultimately took second place, so bronze was not awarded.
Scharfenberg had previously missed the podium in the individual on the normal hill on Wednesday, but after two rounds she was fifth. The world title went to Anezka Indrackova from the Czech Republic, who won just ahead of Norway’s Ingvild Synnove Midtskogen and Finland’s Sofia Mattila. Maja Kovacic from Slovenia, now victorious with her team, came fourth.
World Championship gold for cross-country skier Keck
In the juniors category, the young Austrian Stephan Embacher has so far excelled on the normal hill and won the world championship title. He won ahead of Poland’s Kacper Tomasiak and American Jason Colby. Janne Holz from Germany only took tenth place, the team competition takes place on Saturday.
Embacher recently won the gold medal in the super team competition at the Winter Olympics in Italy. Tomasiak won silver on the normal hill and in the super team. Bronze also came out on the large hill.
At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2026, competitions will be held in cross-country skiing (juniors and U23 age group), Nordic combined and ski jumping (juniors only). The German cross-country skiing talent Elias Keck has already won a gold medal in the U23 race over 20 km mass start, and he also took silver in the sprint. Silver also went to junior cross-country skier Luisa Dahlke in the 20 km mass start and to the combined athletes Jonathan Gräbert and Felix Brieden.
