The non-profit organization Metal Battle wants to promote searching with a metal detector. Particularly in the Westhoek, much of our history is still in the ground. But be careful: you are not allowed to just go out with a metal detector. Amine Beldjoudi, non-profit organization Metal Battle: “Minors cannot normally use the metal detector for an archaeological dig like this. They must always be accompanied by adults and those adults must also have recognition. The entry threshold is very low. You simply apply for recognition from Immovable Heritage. If you do not have a criminal record, you can get started quickly. You can take a child with you and supervise it, but you are responsible for the finds themselves.”
The children found a lot of rubbish this morning, but also some bullets and a button from a soldier’s uniform.
