King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will probably go on a working visit to the United States in April, and a meeting with Donald Trump also appears to be in the pipeline. “Convenient?”

US President Donald Trump was allowed to stay at the king’s home at Huis ten Bosch last June. It is now being examined whether a visit by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima to the US is possible, but critics wonder whether it is useful to send the pair there in this politically turbulent period.

Leper

A reporter from Show news is critical, and Sandra Schuurhof is cautious in the studio. “If you’re invited and you’re around the corner, then I understand why you’re going. Otherwise, all that drooling last year wouldn’t have been necessary,” she says.

Colleague Guido den Aantrekker, boss of the Story, does not understand the doubts. “But Sandra, why shouldn’t we go now? That man isn’t leprous or guilty of anything, is he?”

Epstein Files

Sandra points out that no one knows if Trump is guilty of anything. “That remains to be seen with the Epstein files.”

Guido: “Yes, I understand that, but that has not been proven.”

Sandra: “No.”

Guido: “A reporter is now being said in such a harsh manner: ‘Yes, he is invading Venezuela and doing this and that.’ Yes, he puts the world in order!”

Sandra: “I think she reflects public opinion more.”

No role

Guido believes that politics should not play a role in the royal couple’s decision. “Yes, but shouldn’t a royal couple be above that? That shouldn’t play a role, right?”

Sandra: “Yes, yes, because you are not going to Iran or Saudi Arabia or anything like that.”

Guido: “I think that’s really different. I hope you’re not comparing Iran with America. He’s just a head of state.”

Type of bull

When the presenter cuts off the subject, Guido shouts: “Hey, too bad, it’s just as fun. My personal red flag always sits there!”

Sandra, dressed in a red blouse, then: “I am a kind of bull for Guido that he reacts to! Hahahaha!”
