Sara Bee is tired of speeches where women should belittle themselves or apologize.

Last summer, Sara Beldjerd, 26, suddenly burst into tears in her car. He was on the threshold of one of his big dreams coming true.

– I would like to enjoy this, but I get so tired. I’m done, artist Sara Bee remembers saying at the time.

It was the beginning of June and the debut album of Sara Bee, or Sara, 26 Baddie Issues was about to see the light of day.

Iconic-song had become a huge Tiktok hit earlier in the spring and was made with Ares I would think-joint single was hailed as one of the biggest summer hits.

– It was quite violent and I was very tired at the time. I had printed an album on it at the beginning of the year and the singles went crazy well. I somehow wasn’t at the fair at all, artist times now.

A lot of friends came to the album launch, but the thoughts were already on the next steps. Sara learned early on that she can’t go on like this.

Sara Bee is an even more unknown artist to the general public. This year, however, he will get to the big stages he’s been aiming for. Pete Anikari

– It’s been a problem that I didn’t dare to say about some things that I actually can’t take it anymore. In the future, I can’t try to please everyone and do everything.

– It’s disgusting to think about your own dreams, the realization of which you’ve been waiting for a long time, that yes, this, then when this is over. Why do I want them to be over? Well, because I would like to get them out from under me, so that I can breathe a little afterwards.

The rookie artist immediately understood what he considers the “dark side” of the music industry. It feels like you have to forge when the iron is hot and the boundaries between work and free time are very blurred. When you enjoy doing it yourself, it is perhaps more challenging to recognize the limits of your own endurance.

However, now Sara feels that she is in a good place in terms of coping, although she should remember to clear her calendar a bit again. Big dreams are coming true again: Sara warms up in the spring Abreuta at this arena gig and is nominated for the Emma gala for the first time.

Dream

Since she was little, Sara has loved performing and dreamed of being an artist. He grew up in Seinäjoki, where, according to him, there were hardly any trendsetters.

– I only had a dream. I’ve always been really brave and I felt that now I’m moving to Helsinki and starting to find out how I could become an artist, he says.

When she was younger, Sara says she was more insecure and in some ways an “ugly duckling”. For example, he admired the self-confident Rihanna. Pete Anikari

Six years ago, Sara packed a moving van from South Ostrobothnia towards the capital region and started making music to beats found on YouTube. Little by little, he began to find like-minded people around him.

– I’ve been doing my own thing since the beginning and thought that someday someone will realize this. You just go and grind forward and stick to your own story. Even with hard work, you can’t get beyond a certain point if you don’t have that foundation and creativity, Sara reflects.

Self-belief has been shaken from time to time. Sara thanks her loved ones who have given her motivational speeches. Especially when he tends to compare himself to others.

– If I wonder why I haven’t gotten that gig, even though there is so and so. Then my friends say that Sara, do you understand that you have those 20 other party gigs in the summer, you’re not doing badly, he says.

In 2021, Sara participated The Voice Of Finland – competition. However, the program has not yet served as a springboard for an artistic career.

– Maybe the program taught about TV productions and, for example, the use of in-ear monitors, but unfortunately I still didn’t get the contacts or visibility I wanted there. However, I am satisfied with how things progressed in the end, he says.

Overall, he describes the program experience as positive and comfortable. Of course, it was sad for a while when the doors to an artist career didn’t even open.

Personal column

Sara draws her music from her own life and her style from the aesthetics of the 21st century. The lyrics of almost all the songs are Sara’s own experiences.

He reminds that of course the stories are only from his point of view, and the other parties have not had any lyrical comments.

– For the most part, my own relationship kinks and thoughts. It’s easiest when it’s genuine, he says

Published in January Knotted-single Sara talks about, among other things, a relationship that has been tried several times despite the storms.

Baby, for a moment I thought you changed something, but I can’t save you. You target the new sun, you hold on to it when you are unable to love.

– Such toxic patterns are unfortunately common. It might sound more dramatic in the songs, but yes, there is the truth in the background and it’s really unfortunate.

– You don’t even notice it at first, what kind of mental grip the other person can have. Every time it goes the same way, even if we break up and get back together, things don’t change anything. You only realize everything when you look further away, says Sara.

Sara describes Knottedsingle as his most personal song so far.

– My mother also listened to it and she was like, oh, this guy who is being sung about here sounds pretty terrible and quite narcissistic, says Sara.

– I’m happy that at least I can make songs out of them and deal with these issues. In the songs, I can say to others and myself that you deserve better.

Today, such storms are history. However, there are enough stories, for example for the next album, which Sara paints as more dramatic than her debut album.

– It hasn’t been terribly long since there was drama in my life. Yes, I still have things to tell you. I don’t see myself writing happy love songs, she laughs.

Bad bitch

Other types of stories also come from real life. Iconic– hit last year in the clip that trended:

I don’t need to wear that, Sara, when you have such a good voice.

Sara has actually heard this comment as well.

– Yes, I’ve been told that you don’t need to dress so revealing or in such outfits to have a good voice. You could just sing and dress more elegantly.

– I know I sing well, but this is my vision. This is how I express myself and I want to look like this. This is not attention-seeking, although women are told that if you dress a certain way, you would do it for someone else, Sara shakes.

The release of the artist’s career and the first album involved a lot of new things at the same time: new songs, choreography, gig training, filming… Pete Anikari

Sara is tired of the narrative where women should be ashamed or belittle themselves.

– I love that in Finland we have made a lot of progress in being seen and heard and people are more courageously themselves.

Now Sara cultivates a “bad bitch attitude”.

– Women are allowed to be bosses and make their own money. Women can dress however they like, and there’s no need to apologize to anyone or please men or anyone else, she insists.

Sara wants to be an example or a trendsetter. One that he would have longed for when he was younger. He has always been proud, for example, of his Finnish-Algerian roots and loves when he sees people from different cultural backgrounds on display.

Although Sara’s attitude empowers young women in particular, men can also be seen at her concerts. Sara has also performed in, for example, garrisons, where young men also learn how to “the guy is not loyal“.

– I am grateful for my crazy fans. I feel that even though my music is about women’s experiences, it is still accessible to everyone. Equally, men can experience the same things.

– When the guys are feeling good, it gives me a really super successful feeling. Yes, they also realize that we are all baddies and not that I am against them.
