Lindsey Vonn had a terrible accident at the Olympics. Now the US athlete is releasing a new video.
Just 25 days after her serious fall at the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, US ski star Lindsey Vonn showed herself training. The 41-year-old shared a video on Instagram and wrote: “These are definitely difficult times, but I’m still grateful… and continue to work hard. The only goal is to get healthy again. One day at a time.”
The video also shows how the 2010 Olympic champion trains her thighs, shoulders, stomach, back and arms. In between, Vonn’s injured left leg is treated. In the end she even gets up from the wheelchair.
The speed specialist suffered a complex shin injury when she fell on the Cortina descent. After her hospital stay in Italy, Vonn was taken to the airport by ambulance and flown to the USA.
In a few weeks, Vonn plans to transition from a wheelchair to crutches. She recently explained: “It will take about a year for all the bones to heal.” She then wants to decide whether the metal parts used should be completely removed. Only then is the final repair of her cruciate ligament planned in another operation.
