League B has communicated to the clubs the data relating to the salaries of players, first team coaches (and related staff) and sporting directors. This is an update compared to those of October: in between there were changes (more among the technicians, less among the managers), but above all there was the January transfer window which saw the clubs intervene massively. In total, around 18.5 million more are spent, of which around 4.2 for coaches and 2 for directors. Because it was the fear of relegation in particular that caused the companies’ salaries to rise. Among the 14 that have increased costs, Sampdoria stands out, spending around 4 million more, thus rising from almost 26 initially to 30. Second is Spezia, another club that is trying to move up the rankings and has raised its wage bill by 2.9 million (from 23.6 to 26.5), and the curiosity is the cost of Roberto Donadoni and his staff: if in January Spezia spent over 800 thousand more euros for the players, for the coach it almost reaches 2 million.

However, notable increases were recorded for Juve Stabia (2.4 million, 600 thousand for the sporting director), Mantua (2.1, 400 thousand for the new sporting director), Frosinone and Venice (1.9) and Bari (1.7). Some virtuous clubs have saved, like Catanzaro who lowered their wages by 1.1 million. The total costs for the salaries of all these members therefore rises to 323.5 million, of which 282.3 in fixed part and 41.2 in bonuses (not all reachable, for goodness sake): in October the total was 304.8 (265 fixed, 39.8 variable). The most expensive team remains Monza (33.5) after having risen by 800 thousand, ahead of Palermo (30.4, down by almost 300 thousand) and Venezia (30.3, as mentioned, up by 1.9): data which mercilessly stand out in the tournament ranking, which sees these three teams in command. And in last place is Pescara, the team that costs the least of all (7.1). So in football the only thing that matters is money? Calm down: Samp costs 29.4 million, and instead of being in the running for Serie A they are still afraid of Serie C.
