Things are no longer going well for Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace. The Austrian also experienced a setback in his private life.

Former Bundesliga coach Oliver Glasner has been banned from driving. This is reported by the British tabloid “The Sun”. Accordingly, the 51-year-old has to forego his driving license for six months.

The reason for the penalty should be speeding. It is said that Glasner was flashed on Old Kent Road in south London at 7.30 a.m. on July 15, 2025.

The coach of Premier League team Crystal Palace is said to have pleaded guilty in a letter to Willesden District Court at the end of January for failing to comply with the speed limit of 20 miles per hour (approx. 32 km/h) (approx. 32 km/h) on a section of road. Instead, he drove 29 miles per hour (approx. 47 km/h).

“I take full responsibility for my actions and am aware of the seriousness of this matter,” Glasner is said to have written to the court. “I have taken measures to ensure this does not happen again.”

Glasner’s problem: He already has several traffic offenses on his record. According to the report, this emerges from court documents. That’s why the driver’s license was automatically revoked. A judge imposed this on Glasner on Tuesday after the Salzburg native declared in a second letter in mid-February that he would accept the sentence without a public court hearing.

Glasner, who coached VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, has been under contract with Crystal Palace since 2024. Last season he sensationally won the FA Cup with the Eagles. This season the team is having a hard time following the departure of several top performers. So they were thrown out of the cup against sixth division team Macclesfield and are fighting to stay in the league.

Glasner’s departure at the end of the season is already certain. Recently there has been regular speculation as to whether the club could part ways earlier with its coach, who has also fallen out of favor with some fans. On Thursday evening, Crystal Palace has its landmark game against the also troubled London club Tottenham Hotspur.
