Lucio Dalla and Lucio Battisti: a vinyl to celebrate them
Lucio’s dawn is a 45 rpm in 12 inch format, in blue/lavender colour, which contains two iconic songs by Dalla and Battisti: on side A there is March 4, 1943, on the B side The gardens of March.
The cover is signed by the artist Matthew Bertonwhile the personalized inner sleeves tell of an ideal meeting between the two songwriters, in a symbolic dialogue between songs, eras and sensibilities. To enrich the project, a contribution from Vincenzo Mollica, who signs an unpublished text dedicated to the night in which Dalla and Battisti were born. A decidedly singular coincidence. Lucio Dalla, in fact, was born on March 4, 1943, Battisti on the 5th, a few hours away. What they have in common is also the name, almost a destiny if you want to believe it.

Dalla and Battisti, different and always distant
Lucio Dalla and Lucio Battisti their professional paths have never crossed when they were alive. After all, they had very little in common, except for that curious personal data and their love for Rimini. The former was on stage until the end, when he died suddenly in a hotel room in Montreax after a concert, just before his 70th birthday.
The second, who died in 1998 at the age of 55, had been away from the stage and his audience for some time at the time. Added to this is the fact that only in 2019 did the heirs allow the diffusion of his music on streaming platforms, privileged listening channels for the younger generations.

Lucio Dalla, in reality, once talked about the idea of a joint project, which should have led to a tour and, perhaps, even an album. They met in 1984, in a restaurant. The tour should have been titled The two Lucios. «He listened without giving me importance», Dalla revealed, «Then he finished eating, wiped his mouth and he said it couldn’t be done, that he felt very changed and that he was moving into a completely different musical pursuit.” Battisti had already developed the idea of a more secluded life: their paths never really crossed.
