Aston Martins do not dare to drive the Australian GP to the finish line.

Newey is only working in Australia for the first time in his career as a team manager, but now it seems certain that the debut will not go under lucky stars.
– We only have to drive a really limited number of laps in the race, Newey confirmed on Thursday in the Albert Park pit.
Newey said that the cooperation between the new AMR26 car and the Honda power unit does not work and the car shakes so much that the drivers would get nerve damage in their hands before the middle of the race.
In the past, the vibration has only been linked to Honda’s troubles. The motors’ batteries have broken down after just a few rounds.

On Thursday, Newey emphasized that they would still experience irreparable destruction Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.
– Fernando feels that he cannot drive more than 25 laps. After that, he would be at risk of permanent nerve damage to his hands. In the case of Lance, that limit comes after 15 laps, Newey continued.
A total of 58 laps are run in the Australian GP.
– When the situation is like this, we have to be honest. This is unfortunate, but we must first find the cause of the vibration and fix it.
However, Newey emphasized that even though the Australian GP will likely end with suspensions for both drivers, the team still believes in its chances in the World Series.
– It will certainly take a few races before we bring out all the potential. We have quite an aggressive development program going on, but it’s probably fair to say that right here in Melbourne we’re a bit behind the others, Newey said.
– I would say that we are perhaps the fifth best team. We do have the potential to be at the top at some point in the season.
