Harvey Weinstein is currently serving a 16-year sentence in a New York prison for rape and large-scale abuse of power. Nevertheless, the former star film producer always manages to comment on current Hollywood actors from prison.
Now Weinstein has been mentioned in a book by Christina Applegate – and has a surprising answer.
Weinstein blasphemed and Applegate countered
On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Christina Applegate released her memoir titled “You with the Sad Eyes.” In the book, the actress looks back on her Hollywood career and numerous roles. She also reports on her life with multiple sclerosis – an autoimmune disease that has repeatedly set her back in everyday life and in her job over the past few years.
Former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein is also mentioned in the book. Christina Applegate describes an encounter between the two at a Hollywood party, where she heard the now 73-year-old talking about other women in what she thought was a tasteless way. She probably didn’t hesitate and confronted the now convicted sex offender directly. One might think that Harvey Weinstein, who had been abusing power within the industry for years, would hardly be impressed by this at the time. But that was probably not the case, the author wrote: he was “definitely afraid” of her because she was a woman who didn’t do things by halves.
Harvey Weinstein surprises with praise
Given the descriptions in the book, it would have been expected that the former film producer would go on the offensive to defend himself. However, that is not the case – quite the opposite. Shortly after the book was published, he spoke out from prison to praise the 54-year-old and formally applauded her for her honesty and strength. Speaking to TMZ through a spokesperson, he called Christina Applegate a “gifted actress and an influential voice in Hollywood.He added: “It’s good to see her sharing her story and her perspective in her own words. I don’t remember meeting Christina Applegate or having this conversation.”
The Harvey Weinstein system, in which he constantly abused women in the film industry, worked for many years because those affected did not speak out, primarily out of fear of him and his power. This now begs the question: Was Christina Applegate the only woman in Hollywood that Harvey Weinstein was afraid of?

The 16 years Harvey Weinstein is currently serving in prison stem from a 2023 sentence issued in Los Angeles. The verdict was about rape from 2013. A New York verdict from 2020 on the same offense was overturned at the time because allegedly inadmissible witness statements had been admitted. However, the court hearing was rescheduled. Harvey Weinstein will soon have to answer for his actions in court for a third time.
