The 28th round ends with a surprising draw for Alvini’s team against the Abruzzo team. The rosanero beat Mantova, not without difficulty. Draw show between Carrarese and Catanzaro
More than a midweek, a blender of emotions. The only certainty on B’s Wednesday is the Barbera law which Palermo enforces for the ninth time in a row, but how much effort: the 2-1 against Mantova comes thanks to Ranocchia’s right-footed shot and the usual Pohjanpalo. In the 67th minute the Rosanero found themselves leading by two goals and one man, but they reopened the lead on their own; Blin embraces the ball with his hands in the area, getting the red card and giving Mantua a penalty. Marras shortens, but the rosanero protect the success.
Fear and loathing in Frosinone: Pescara took the lead 2-0 (Di Nardo scored a double, the second goal was highly contested because Cittadini had collapsed to the ground due to a physical problem), but the Ciociari team shortened the score with Calò’s penalty (Altare was sent off on the occasion) and equalized with Raimondo at the end of time. A draw is of little use to both: the Abruzzo team are -6 from the playouts, Alvini -5 from the top.
The most entertaining match is played in Tuscany, given the 3-3 draw between Carrarese and Catanzaro. A festival of bitterness: those of Calabria for the wasted lead after the break (at half-time they won 2-1) and the penalty missed by Pontisso, those of Tuscany for having conceded the final goal equal to the 93rd minute. To be highlighted in no particular order: a gem from Melegoni, an absolutely sweet assist from Iemmello for Cassandro and an own goal for each side.
Empoli (with ten men from 23′) catches Bari again in the first minute (tap-in by Shpendi to respond to Rao), but raises the white flag after Maggiore’s 2-1: great header to bring the red and whites into the playout zone, overtaking Mantua and Spezia. Empoli haven’t won since January 10th: two months ago they aspired to make the playoffs, today they are dangerously dozing at +3 on the relegation zone. A gore from Correia sends Juve Stabia into orbit, but Di Nardo puts Samp back on track in injury time: it ends 1-1, the Dorians move up the table after two knockouts in a row.
