Deniz Undav from VfB Stuttgart is dissatisfied with the discussion about his return to the DFB team. The upcoming nomination is therefore eagerly awaited.
VfB Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav has expressed his dissatisfaction with discussions surrounding his possible return to the German national team. Despite his strong goal record in the Bundesliga, he rarely sees himself as a favorite for the DFB team.
In an interview with Sky, Undav emphasized his achievements: “I score the most goals. I’m in second place internationally in terms of scorers.” In the Bundesliga he is the best German goalscorer behind Harry Kane with 14 goals.
In total he has scored 18 goals and eleven assists in 33 competitive games this season. However, he was not nominated recently and last played for the national team in the game for third place in the Nations League in June 2025.
Since the winter break, there has been no exchange with national coach Julian Nagelsmann about a possible nomination for the international matches against Switzerland and Ghana at the end of March: “He doesn’t need to talk to me either. My arguments are on the pitch. I’m trying to show him that,” said Undav, according to “Bild”.
At a VfB Stuttgart meeting in Stuttgart’s Leonhardskirche, where players and coaches handed out food and drinks to those in need, Undav expressed his regret about the rare mention of his name in the discussion about the ideal strike line-up in the DFB team: “I think it’s a shame that I always have to justify myself. I think I’ll show that on the pitch.”
Undav explained to “Absolut Stuttgart” that his ability to also act as a playmaker may mean that he is less considered in the striker discussion: “It’s not my fault that I have the quality, that I can play on the ten, that people don’t talk about me as a striker.”
