Felix Hoffmann has already landed on the podium four times in the ski jumping winter of 2025/26, and the 28-year-old is still in the top 10 in the overall World Cup. However, Hoffmann’s form curve has recently shown a clear decline. DSV icon Sven Hannawald now found clear words.
In ski flying at the Kulm, Felix Hoffmann recently disappointed with 32nd place. At the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, he also failed to achieve a really strong result with 13th place on the normal hill and 25th place on the large hill. German ski jumping legend Sven Hannawald doesn’t believe that Hoffmann will turn things around again in the home stretch of the season.
“Felix is completely off track at the moment. He’s at the end of his strength. It’s a hopeless battle,” quotes “sport.pl” the 51-year-old, who won a total of 18 individual competitions in his career. And further: “His talent undoubtedly ranks him among the best in the world, but at the moment he is not showing his best performance. His level is constantly falling, which is completely understandable after that chaotic start in which he didn’t really know what to expect. He has been fighting ever since. He wants to meet expectations, but since then he has been going in circles,” said Hannawald.
“I am very sorry about that”
Hoffmann finds it “mentally difficult to muster that last few percent, regardless of whether things go well or badly. I’m very sorry about that, because that meant he didn’t make it to the final. It’s incredibly difficult to watch him suffer, even if he tries to cover it up with a smile,” Hannwald added.
The next men’s World Cup is scheduled for Friday in Lahti, Finland. Hoffmann will then be part of the German squad alongside Karl Geiger, Pius Paschke, Philipp Raimund, Luca Roth and Andreas Wellinger. Individual competitions are on the program on Friday and Saturday, followed by a super team competition on Sunday.
