It is the strength of ‘Het Dorp’ in Krommenie, which was founded by Erica: offering an environment that is so familiar and safe that people flourish there. It is not without reason that she talks about her ‘family’. “I work here with all my heart,” she says. “This is my everything.”
Rowena enjoys the hours in Het Dorp. She can be completely herself there. And she is developing in an unexpected area: “Erica has taught me that I can be creative too,” she says. If she had not had that opportunity with Erica, she might never have discovered her own talent.
It surprises her that Erica is not being cared for for a while, but is being put in the spotlight. “Gosh, I don’t know what to say, darling,” she responds. This is followed by a big hug and the tears come.
