Figure skating club HSK head coach Mirjami Penttinen has continued his inappropriate behavior, says Helsingin Sanomat.
According to HS, it is alleged that Penttinen, among other things, shouted, cursed and used insulting expressions about the skaters, such as “brainless” and “aspergers”.
Penttinen made headlines already in 2020, when he received a one-year suspension from being a trustee for shouting and humiliating. Now four skaters, who remain anonymous, tell Helsingin Sanomat that the inappropriate behavior of the coach has continued.
According to HS, one minor skater even had to seek psychological help because the coach had texted him during the school day.
In addition to the skaters, parents of four different families have told HS about inappropriate behavior. However, some parents defend Penttis.
Penttinen told HS that he is deeply sorry if he has offended skaters.
– I have done a lot of introspection, tried to be more diplomatic and changed my coaching method to be more athlete-oriented, Penttinen assured.
According to HS, Penttinen was transferred out of youth coaching during the story.
