1. FC Magdeburg has been severely sanctioned by the DFB sports court after the incidents surrounding the game against SG Dynamo Dresden. In addition to a high fine, the Blue-Whites sometimes have to forego their spectators at a home game.
In total, the FCM was sentenced to a fine of 186,600 euros. Of this, 126,600 euros relate to the setting off of pyrotechnics by Magdeburg fans on January 24, 2026. A further 60,000 euros are due due to clashes between club supporters and police forces. In addition, the sports court imposed partial exclusion of spectators for two games. Specifically, blocks 3 to 6 of the north stand must remain closed for two home games. However, one of these measures was put on probation.
The first partial exclusion takes effect on matchday 26: At the home game on Friday, March 13, 2026, against SV Darmstadt 98, the affected blocks in the Avnet Arena will remain closed. Season and day tickets that have already been purchased for areas 3 to 6 will no longer be valid, the second division club announced. Fans with tickets for blocks 1, 2 and 7 are not affected by the sanction. The FCM wants to provide information about refund modalities and organizational details as soon as possible. The Saxony Anhalters had not yet agreed to the DFB control committee’s original criminal complaint. However, after considering the matter, the club will not appeal against the judgment that has now been handed down by the sports court.
