Especially since other things are now more important for Verstappen. “When I come home and spend time with my family, it’s very easy for me to switch off,” he said. “For me, the time before the season when I can train at home and spend time with my family is the best time of the year.”
In May 2025, Verstappen became the father of a daughter for the first time. His partner, Kelly Piquet, also brought a daughter into the relationship. Verstappen and the daughter of three-time Formula 1 world champion Nelson Piquet have been a couple since 2020. “I always wanted this because I saw how beautiful it is,” said Verstappen about the birth of his daughter. “On the one hand, when I grew up myself, and on the other hand, later with my sister and her three children,” the Red Bull driver continued. “Honestly, it’s the best thing in the world. It’s much better than winning a race or a championship. Just watching kids grow up is the best,” he enthused.
He still has the ambition to win back the World Cup title next season. “Of course I hope it will be exciting. That’s the most important thing,” he said about the title fight. “And I hope I’ll be there.”
