The cross-country race meant to be missed.

Heidi Weng was lured to a bar in Falun. PDO

Norway’s Heidi Weng celebrated the victory of the women’s combined competition in Falun, Sweden on Sunday. Weng caused confusion already during the race.

– I don’t know why I’m here, Weng told Viaplay.

According to Weng, he was referring to the fact that he was very tired after the Olympics.

– In addition to that, I was asked to a bar last night. It was quite an attractive invitation, Weng told Expressen.

– Then I thought, no, I have to take care of my business. That’s why I went to the line.

Weng was asked why she was tempted to go to a bar during the women’s combined competition?

– Manchester City played there, Weng announced, adding afterwards:

– However, I think I made the right choice.

Weng beat USA’s Jessie Diggins and Sweden’s Frida Karlsson, the reigning Olympic champion of the distance, in a head-to-head battle at the end of the combined event.

When Karlsson heard about the offer made to Weng, he was shocked.

– What! Here in Falun? Karlsson wondered about the contents of the bar invitation.

– Why wasn’t I asked? I’m disappointed, the Olympic champion grinned.

Expressen shared a rather cool reminder regarding Weng.

– The World Cup continues next weekend in Lahti. Whether Weng will be at the starting line then is a mystery. When there are sports bars in the same way in Lahti and Manchester City plays on Saturday, an “offer” was thrown on the table in the afternoon newspaper.

The women’s sprint will be skied in Lahti on Saturday. On Sunday, the program includes a 10 km traditional split race.
