A resident of the Groenelaan district in Amstelveen reported the incident to the local police officer last week. His mobility scooter was stolen and destroyed. Later that week, the police saw two videos on TikTok showing two boys riding on the same mobility scooter.

Because the TikTok account was already known to the police, they were able to identify the administrator. This could also be seen in the videos. He received a visit from officers at home. He was arrested there and his phone was confiscated.

‘We also know where to find you online’

The police warn on social media: “It may seem cool to take and destroy an elderly mobility scooter for views. But remember: you also leave traces online and we know where to find you.”

Officers do not yet know who the second suspect in the video is, so police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
